clean pricing change announcement video
- love the handheld high quality shots
- natural feeling conversation towards the end
- very pretty music
- nice and to the point
but
- felt a little forced in the beginning
- might have emphasized the why up front
- the inflection on "replit free mode" should probably have been downward so it sounded more confident and less rushed
replit seems to love to do this conversational announcements. this is 100x better than the last one I saw, but they're still not my favorite because they're by definition inauthentic.
Sam knows what replit free mode is so why is Amjad explaining it to him?
in these cases, documentary style works - have someone behind the camera ask questions you can hear to the speakers.
the other alternative is to have the conversation focused more on what outcome they want to have with the feature and why that matters to them PERSONALLY.
"we're announcing replit free mode and wanted to share a bit about why it matters to us. sam why did you want to do this..." and have a casual convo back and forth.
also Sam is Jewish (presumably pro-israel/zionist) and Amjad is Palestinian/Jordanian (very anti-israel).
them coming coming together to democratize access to AI esp for social impact as Amjad says is a beautiful and interesting angle - and would probably be very viral (perhaps for the wrong reasons though).
probably not the angle you want to lean into for this kind of announcement, but my mind naturally wanders to what a video emphasizing this would look like.
any opportunity to bring the world together when it's so divided is something worth taking seriously.
showing someone who built something on replit that supports exchange between israelis and palestinians might be the way, but not sure.
