clean brand-aligned launch video
- spot on execution against monaco's professional, lux brand identity
- music and sound fx are great. classical was a good choice to keep the lux feel.
- animations are really well done. "faster rev growth" zoom was brilliant
- good social proof with $$$ monaco customers have closed
- "the fastest growing startups in the world are running on monaco" is great
- excellent camera quality
but
- would have shown actual UI instead of animations. if you're as well-funded as monaco and have been in market like they have, its an obligation.
- would have leaned into the social proof harder. put the $$ customers are making up front. show me a graph of growth rates of monaco customers vs industry average to prove fastest growing startups are on monaco. if true this is a mic drop moment.
- would have also proved "monaco is now better than any human" - number of prospects engaged per hour or something
- don't care about the history of sales tech. everyone knows. just say "we dont need more tools to juggle" and move on.
- have seen all these features a dozen times. what is new?
- need a CTA or URL at the end.
Sam and team are lucky to be "silicon valley central casting" - people who the industry favors by default due to their impressive backgrounds and connections. that means they don't have to optimize the video as much as everyone else. people will pay attention merely because its sam.
at the same time, with the funding and stature they have, there's also more scrutiny. imo launches need to demonstrate either a new, mind-blowing product experience or incredible traction. the industry might expect both from the monaco team.
the biggest miss with this video is not putting those metrics up front and proving the bold statements. a graph showing monaco customers vs an average startup's growth would be incredible proof and let viewers look past the fact that all of the features demonstrated in this video are years old and have been done over and over again across other products at this point.
another strange thing is that they announced they're in GA, but there's currently no self-serve sign up. sam didn't even drop the link in the thread (and there's no link in his bio either).
again, monaco doesn't need to optimize anything because of their position, so this isn't as much of an issue as it would be for others. in fact, it's kind of a badass move NOT to optimize - its a statement of strength.
overall very very well done. congrats team.
