fun feature launch video (by me!)
- nice and short with quick cuts to keep attention
- good attention grabber (mamdani reference if you caught it)
- good to show actual product in the demo
- smart to have the music video in the corner during the demo parts (keeps it fun and attention-grabbing)
- very consistent with brand and previous videos (same green grass scene, band, etc)
- music is killer (lines up perfectly with visuals and builds energy effectively)
- funny (the linkedin heaven part is great)
- good CTA at the end
but
- some UI is too small to see whats going on.
- eyes have to bounce around a lot with UI
- some shots just go too fast in general
- big list of features. should say who its for and why its great
- audio could use better mixing
this is the first video I did 100% myself. filmed in my apartment, applied AI treatment, etc.
overall very happy with how this turned out and think its a repeatable format that will work with other feature launches.
one thing that stands out is the music and sound fx.
a lot of folks make the mistake of using stock music. this cheapens the entire video.
this is the process I went through:
- I used Suno to generate a song in the same style as all of our other videos (1970s soul) about the feature we released. lyrics are about linkedin but not exactly.
- I cut the intro to the song and made it the intro explainer of the video (before the demo). this gives it the feeling of energy building up
- I used the drop right before the chorus for the moment in the script where the key benefit or feature is stated ("linkedin"). this is the MAIN thing you want people to take away from the video and the drop emphasizes it
- The chorus serves as the actual product demo. the musical resolution + wow moment of the product feels very good together. The entire demo should only last as long as a single chorus. if I'm doing a longer demo, I'll include a verse (but with vocals removed).
- The ending CTA happens in the outro of the song. I had to double this outro to fit the script in but usually still keep it tight.
- I added different samples from Splice for risers, impacts, etc to emphasize the build up to the drop even more. the heaven scene also uses a few samples from Splice. its also great to use samples for sound fx like the tapping on the camera.
- also, I used higgsfield to create the live band scene by feeding in the song + a few generated images of the band (in outfits relevant to linkedin!)
that's it. I genuinely think this is 60% of what makes our videos great and shouldn't be super hard for anyone else to implement.
