cliche but well-executed launch video

  • elite animations
  • quick cuts keep attention
  • script is really dialed in (clear bold statement, why it matters, who its for, etc)
  • sound fx are nice

but

  • have seen this format over and over again. getting desensitized and immediately tune it out.
  • would show actual UI (not recreation) to offset the hyper-salesy energy to create trust
  • would show actual customers in the video for the same video
  • music is quiet, boring, and not lined up
  • would have shown large text for key points - can't concentrate on animations AND subtitles, so you miss stuff
  • would have had big logos for the things it connects to
  • "AI marketer" is such a tired phrase

have said this before: this formula is overdone, but it works.

the agency behind it is the best in the game, and consistently churns out the most viral launches, but they have a formula (and stock footage) they reuse over and over again.

here's why this matters.

every startup is doing video now. all of them.

when a video style becomes popular it, reaches a tipping point where using it actually hurts your credibility (and often virality).

it is anti-sprezzatura - communicates "we only care about making this go viral," which hurts for intelligent / brand sensitive audiences like investors and founders.

basically, excellent execution but lets try something different?
